It’s made of decent quality leather, solidly riveted, and fits my old Companion camping axe. Stays on securely, too; the adjustable strap fits a range of axe and hatches sizes. I gave it a coat of Neatsfoot oil and wax to soften the leather so it fit better, and to help protect and preserve it.

Summary: I have an axe from my grandfather, and I have a belt type sheath (listed below), but I have that semi-permanently attached to my belt, so rather than continually taking that one on and off, I ordered this one instead.
Observations: For size comparison, I also put my Husqvarna 19" Carpenter's Axe in the pictures, of course that axe head is way too big, but showing it for size comparison purposes.

Very high quality hatchet cover!
Ordered this to replace the hatchet cover I made out of duct tape and cardboard for the hatchet that lives in our camping box.
I was blown away by the quality and craftsmanship in this sheath for the price.
It will fit a fairly large array of different sizes of axes and hatchets due to the adjustable retention strap.
I tried it on my 20" Estwing camp axe also, and it fit like a glove.
If you like to keep your axes and hatchets sharp like I do, then you need one of these. Protects the edge from damage, and protects you from being damaged by the edge.
Highly recommended.

This sheath is made out with thick leather and it's definitely overkill for my cheap Ozark Trail hatchet but I do like the way it looks and works.
From the looks of it you can fit bigger hatchets in it.

Very easy to remove and put back on, this is a must-have. Keeps everything in my pack safe from getting cut, and keeps my ax safe from dulling.
